In my opinion, "The City" is about the dark side of New York. It can be considered a narrative because of how there is a real city involved with a negative point of view. There is also imagery because of how the writer described different aspects of the city. There is also figurative language. The poem explains that New York isn't that great by saying it is "gritty, dark, and hard. But regardless of this, "congregations grow" meaning tons of people still come to the city.

"Broadway"  by: Carl Sandburg (1878-1967)

The poem "Broadway" by Carl Sandburg can be a lyric poem because of how it expresses feelings about Broadway. It could be free verse because of how it had no rhyme or rhythm. From the tone of it, he might be talking about how he is leaving New York or was a part of Broadway and is now leaving that. He expresses how he will never forget the "golden and calling lights."
